Arval Targets their Customers’ Employees

FACTS

  • Arval, subsidiary of BNP Paribas, focusing on BtoB-specific long-term car leasing offers, expands their range of services to aim for their corporate customers’ employees.
  • A new offer called Arval for Employee is meant for 80% of corporate employees without a company vehicle (source: 2017 study by Viavoice for the OVE).
  • Five options are featured:
    • Long-term car rental services for employees: the employee chooses a car, his preferred options, the contract period, mileage, and subscribes directly with Arval, in charge of the entire process. The monthly rent includes car maintenance, tyres, assistance, financial losses and insurance services
    • Lease-purchase option for the car driver: once the contractual period over, the employee can buy the vehicle for himself or his close relatives
    • Car-sharing: for one hour or a few days, during weekdays or weekends
    • Sharing a bike: includes insurance, training and equipment
    • Ridesharing from home to work place and access to Arval’s network of partners (roughly 350,000 rides daily to 800 locations in France)
  • Arval also assists interested employees with selling their used car. A delivery service is also featured so the new car can be shipped to their home address or any specified location.

CHALLENGES

  • Reaching out for more targets. As they expand their range of services through including corporate employees without a car, Arval finds a way to significantly increase the possible number of contracts from/for each of their client companies.
  • Meeting employees’ new expectations. The rental company intends to meet employees’ expectations as regards to flexibility, budgeting and security. According to Viavoice, 67% of customers without a company car believe that implementing various mobility-dedicated solutions will contribute to improving their well-being.
  • With Arval for Employee, companies may then improve their employees’ journeys and overall quality of life at work. Over time, this could help them attract and retain talented employees.

MARKET PERSPECTIVE

  • Arval tries to take advantage of a current trend which sees French people favour service providers rather than purchasing properties. This strategy leads this subsidiary to make adjustments and include additional mobility-oriented offers.
  • In the end of 2014, Arval already relied on their leading position in long-term car rental on the French market, to add medium-term rental offers to their set of services. The point was to meet occasional needs expressed by some business activities.
  • According to Viavoice, 76% of the corporate decision makers deem that companies are getting more involved in improving their employees’ journeys to work in the near future.
