Worldline’s Hackathon for the Future of Payment

In line with the current co-innovation trend, the European payments company Worldline announces their first Hackathon. On this occasion FinTech focusing on means of payment have been invited to work with leading market players to build the future of payments.

The e-Payments Challenge by Worldline will be held from September 26 to 28 in Paris. This development challenge will be organised in partnership with AccorHotels and supported by a number of its customers.

Eight challenges, submitted by Worldline customers, will be proposed to the participating start-ups. Considered topics will include seamless in-store payment experience, flexible merchants/banks interface in light of GDPR requirements, Instant payments for telcos, etc. M-payments, Open Banking, chatbots, authentication, data protection and the Blockchain will also be discussed. Participating start-ups will have to showcase their projects to the jury in charge of appointing a winner for each Challenge prior to choosing the overall winner of the e-Payments Challenge.

On this occasion, a dedicated website has been implemented. The French payments specialist claimed they will take advantage of the solutions designed by these start-ups –not just the winner– and draw inspiration from their work for future projects (P2P, B2B, B2C and C2B app) as well as to expand their sets of APIs.

Comments – Worldline bets on FinTech partners, too

FinTechs have given rise to several disruptive models in the finance sector. Longstanding players, including Worldline, must then stay in touch with these new entrants. This challenge is a way to have access to next-generation technologies and take advantage of potential collaborations. Worldline is creating links between their retail customers interested in innovative solutions and this pool of specialised start-ups.

The idea is to merge Worldline’s technological expertise, their partners’ reach and start-ups’ creativity to develop tomorrow’s payment solutions and services. Eight winners will be selected and assisted by Worldline and their partners, from incubation to acceleration. This subsidiary of Atos may then spot out some European gems and better meet their customers’ needs. They also claim they will keep focusing on growing a worldwide payment industry leader, from Europe.
